Ren was going mad. After a long drawn-out conversation with his older brother, whom had thoroughly tongue-lashed him in regard to his manners, Ren had stormed out of the Unseelie court in a huff. Ren had lately come to find his older brother infuriating, despite the love that he harbored for him. After all, Jun had taken Ren when he was merely a child and cared for him, brought him up on Earth where he could enjoy a normal life. Ren appreciated it, he really did. The younger faerie was trying hard to adjust to court life but it was all just too stifling for him. He had spent the last several weeks holed up in his room or wandering outside of the court, desperate for some entertainment. His little romp in the Underdark? Scary, but rewarding. Still, since then Ren had been struck with a desire for something....anything to quell his restlessness.
It was dark when he reached the Exordium. Ren hadn't been paying much attention to where he had been going, and upon reaching the clearing he stumbled over a bench and promptly fell flat on his face. For a few seconds the lanky boy didn't move, his face buried in the snow. Then, slowly, he pulled himself up and cursed loudly, wiping snow and debris from his face. He used the bench to pull himself up and as he brushed his clothing off he muttered to himself, "Everything is fucking out to get me tonight I swear." After he had brushed away what snow clung to his black sweatpants and black and dark red hoodie he turned to wiping off the bench so that he would have a place to lay down.
Once Ren was satisfied, the young faerie plopped down onto his back, one arm propped up behind his head. He stifled a yawn with his free hand and directed his eyes up towards the cloudy sky. It looked like it would quite possibly snow that night, though not any significant amount. Ren rolled his eyes. He had really been hoping for a clear night. Star gazing reminded him of the times he had spent with his dog Mai back on Earth.
Mai... Ren closed his eyes and let loose a soft sigh. Mai had been perhaps the most wonderful dog Ren could have asked for. The beautiful doberman had died a few months before they had returned to Alanor. Ren still carried her dark red collar with him, usually wrapped around his left wrist with her dog tag attached. As the night chill began to set in, he felt a distinct longing for her warmth against him. It had been a long time since he had cuddled with something other than a stuffed animal.

"Not everything. Well, not quite everything." came a low reply, probably well after Ren dreamed of being answered. Krysis' glow could have been mistaken for moonlight, and the way she walked, dressed in black with her hands shoved in the pockets of her slacks, she hardly made any noise.
Of course, from the angle she came from and how long it took for her to answer him, Ren might have thought the sidhe could not have heard him. Her smile is open and friendly, baring white teeth between blood-red lips. She leaned down abruptly, folding her arms on the back of the bench as she grinned down at Ren. Her long hair, a tumble of black and gold so evenly mixed it looked brown, fell over him, dangling near his face.
"Tell me, lad. Why do you lay out here getting your butt chilled, when there is a perfectly good cave not far from this bench?" Her silvery-blue eyes twinkled with merriment as if she found it a joke that she wanted to share.

At first Ren had been so caught up in his own thoughts that he didn’t quite register that someone had spoken. Oh great. Now I’m hearing things. The young faerie sighed slowly, and in an effort to make sure that he wasn’t going crazy, he opened his eyes and found a beautiful Sidhe face staring down at him. Ren’s reaction was immediate and harsh as he sat up abruptly, quite possibly smacking his head into her head as he did so. Still, that was ignored as, in his haste to remove himself from being in such close proximity to her, he promptly fell off of the bench and onto his rear, in the snow.
The sharp cold combined with the wetness that now assaulted his rear broke himself from his panic state and Ren cursed aloud, ”Damn it. Don’t fucking sneak up on me like that!” His reply was instinctual on his part, and it wasn’t until he really looked at her, really saw her in all of her Sidhe glory, that his tongue shifted back in his throat and choked him of any further words. He could only sit there and gawk at her, his mouth opened slightly in awe.

Krysis looked a little stunned when his head collided with her own. The pale sidhe blinked a few times, then laughed as she rubbed her forehead and straightened up. She was still chuckling when she vaulted over the bench and sat on the stone that was so conveniently warmed by Ren's previous presence.
"It is hard not to sneak up on someone that is ignoring their surroundings." She still grinned as she offered her hand to Ren to help him up, then urged him to sit next to her. At least she had a long black jacket that covered her bottom as well as the slacks, so her rear would not be so chilled by contact with the bench.
"You might as well tell me what has you out here. I'm not letting you escape until you satisfy me." She warned, scrunching up her eyes and nose with her good humor. She wouldn't let go of his hand once she claimed it, and she had other tricks to keep him if he should attempt to run.

The woman before Ren was a whole new type of pretty. Throughout Ren’s life the younger faerie had only ever been subjected to beautiful Earth women, most of which could never compare to how innately stunning a Sidhe woman was. Ren’s shyness multiplied exponentially when in the presence of female faerie, perhaps another reason as to why he preferred to avoid the court.
A male like Ren, who had avoided even shaking the hand of a Human Garlanger, was not about to even reach out and touch a female Sidhe, much less even sit next to her. Her hand was left hanging for quite some time as Ren fought to control his shallow breathing. Still, Ren knew he was practically screwed at this point. If he ran away from a Sidhe who seemed to very much want to keep him there, he was liable to be struck by what ever magic she held at her fingertips or worse…scolded by his brother once he found out. Ren didn’t like to be rude, though he often was, and he knew that his brother would approve of it even less.
As color flooded his face Ren accepted the hand and allowed her to pull him up. He sat by her side, though scooted his rear as far away from her as the bench space allowed. When he realized she wasn’t going to let go of his hand, he paled. By now she would find that his palms were sweating, his flesh heated from embarrassment and a bit of anxiety.
Ren rubbed the back of his head with his free hand, thoroughly messing his hair. It was a habit he shared with his brother. His eyes shifted elsewhere as he tried not to look at her as the female spoke. Finally, he attempted to clear his throat to speak, his words sticking to his throat as he did, ”I was, uh…just uh…Leaving and so forth. So I think I’ll be going now. Yeah.” This was, of course, followed by him standing.

"Nope. Not satisfied. You are going to have to do better than that." She told him with a gay ringing to her voice. She tugged Ren's hand still in her grip, and kicked one leg against the back of his knees to make him sit down again.
"You weren't leaving until you saw me. Now you are not leaving at all." Krysis informed Ren happily, and seemed ready to make sure of that comment one way or another until she hesitated in thought.
Then a feral grin stretched her ruby lips and the mad look of a hungry predator filled her eyes as looked at him. "Of course, if you still want to run, I'd have to chase you. That could be quite a lot of fun for me, but not so much for you."
She purred at the thought, her voice a low rippling sound that danced on nerve-endings, "So. You can use your brain or your feet. Which is it to be?"

Ren thoroughly did not expect her to so aggressively pull his back down onto the bench. She had even spared time to kick his knee out, knocking him to his rear and continuing to trap him there, her hand like an iron cuff around his. "You weren't leaving until you saw me. Now you are not leaving at all." As her words bounced off of him something clicked in Ren and his eyes narrowed ever so slightly. The younger boy knew a veiled threat when he heard one and her next bout of speech caused the red to slowly bleed from his cheeks. The change was so subtle that the likelihood of her noticing it was slim. To Ren, this woman was no longer just a beautiful woman. She was a threat and Ren didn't react well to threats. Still he would play it cool...or attempt to.
The Nimbus coughed somewhat nervously and rubbed his head, his face scrunching in a look of exasperated defeat. Finally he spoke, "Look lady. If you want company so badly I'm sure the King would be glad to ablige you. You look like the type he likes." And there he was, running his mouth again in a manner that would probably offend the Sidhe woman. His voice trembled as he spoke, as he was still obviously very uncomfortable in her presence. Her smell, her looks, that Sidhe glow. They all made him inwardly squirm. Ren silently contemplated changing into his mantel form and dealing her a swift bite. His venom was a mortal wound. He could dispatch her in a heartbeat. Fortunately, for him or for Krysis, Ren was relatively polite. He had that whole 'thou shall not hurt a lady' deal going on, and he was content to stick with it... He was taking a gamble.
With an almost exasperated sigh, though not heavy enough to indicate defeat on his part, Ren lifted the hand of his that was in her grasp, "I'm really not interesting, I promise. So you can let go now." There was a silent 'please' added on to that. He fidgeted nervously next to her.

"So it is a King still. That is good to know." Krysis twisted to the side and crossed her legs over Ren's lap before she let go of his wrist at last. Leaning back on one elbow, her expression finally gets serious and thoughtful. The material of her slacks is very thin and one must wonder why anyone would be wandering around in the snow in such inappropriate attire. Still, she does not seem to be ready to let him go.
"His type I might be, but my type he probably is not. My name is Krysis, by the way, and I need information. If you don't want to talk to me, I must ask you to provide me with another guide. However, you might find that having me as an ally is useful, and I do remember favors as well as slights." Her brilliant blue eyes seemed troubled for a few moments, then she was grinning again as she relaxed there, partly on Ren's lap.
She did not want to let him see just how desperate she was to know what had happened to the Unseelie court while she had been away. It was not in her to show such weakness. It was a slim hope that she was still known, or that her old belongings were still tucked away in her old room, but even an outside chance was better than none at all.

Ren couldn’t help but stare as she slid her legs across his lap. In fact, his eyes were so fixated on those legs that he barely heard her speak. Ren gulped slightly and looked towards her, aware that she could probably feel just how tense his body was. He shifted his now free hand down to grip the cement bench beneath them, his fingers clenched so hard that his knuckles turned white. The Nimbus was having an exceptionally hard time handling the touch of a beautiful woman and the fact that she was a Sidhe made it ten times worse.
He gulped, his breathing ragged as he spoke, ”Ren…” He introduced himself, fully aware that his brother would have smacked him had Jun known how disrespectful he was being. Ren began to sincerely pray to Skylla that Krysis would not move. As she had calmed down his warning meter had slowly fallen and now the heat that had originally encompassed his body was back…Not a good thing.
Ren avoided looking at her, and in an attempt to distract himself he glanced out across the Exordium, biting his lip hard in the process. Finally, he spoke, ”What do you need to know?” His voice shook with effort. Calm down. Calm down. Ren tried to actively calm his breathing, closing his eyes in an effort to narrow his focus. Slowly his flushed body began to stop shaking, but it remained as tense as ever.

"The King's name would be a good start. Any recent upheavals or events. Important names associated with the court. Things like that." Krysis answered seriously, and if it seemed that Ren didn't need to be restrained anymore, she would slowly move her legs off his lap. Watching Ren with a touch of concern she tilted her head curiously.
"Are all nimbus so nervous now? Has something happened to make you fear sidhe, instead of desiring us and desiring to be us?" She pulled an old handkerchief out of her jacket pocket then and offered it to him, hoping to calm him further with this gesture of caring for his well being. Honestly she did care, mostly because she had laid claim to him, at least for the moment. She was supposed to take care of those that belonged to her, at least to some extent. At least, she thought she remembered knowing that at one time.
Her memories were as ragged as a derelict sail that has hung for a decade or more. Should the right wind come, the sail of memory would still function, but never as well as it once did. Even if she patched the holes in her thoughts, there would still be gaps, and unpredictable reactions. All the sidhe could do was ride and hope that she wasn't sailing into disaster.

Ren didn't moved as Krysis slid her legs off of his lap. At this point in time he was kind of content to stay. Ren was half paralyzed by nervousness of his own innocent design, and half ensnared by her beauty. In fact, he had to physically force himself to rip his eyes from her legs so that he could direct them towards her face. Once again her words were lost on deaf ears for several moments as he simply watched her. It wasn't until she offered him the handkerchief that he snapped partially out of it. His hand that had previously been gripping the concrete beneath them lifted up to take the handkerchief, but he did little besides hold it. Ren blushed slightly at her words and redirected his gaze towards the grass near his feet as he muttered, "You don't scare me." Your body does he added silently. It was true. Physically, as in body strength or percent of intimidation, she didn't scare him. Ren was more than confident in his battle skills, though he had sworn to never hit a girl lest it was needed. Mentally, she terrified him. Not her mental prowess, which he couldn't gauge. Rather, he was mentally intimidated by her beauty. It did things to him...things he would rather not experience in front of a lady...things he was fighting off desperately.
Still, Ren was growing exasperated with himself. He felt as if he were acting like a child, yet there was little he could do but stubbornly sit it out. So instead of concentrating on the fact that an incredibly gorgeous Sidhe was sitting next to him, Ren decided to answer her question as he fingered the handkerchief in his hands, "I haven't really been here long. All I know is King Cel rules the Unseelie. He's a sick freak. I met him once." Ren's obvious distaste for the King came out in his speech. He had little respect for someone who treated women in such a sickening way. "Other than that it's just the normal faerie freaks wandering about with sticks stuck up their asses." He muttered. Ren was now so into complaining about the court that he momentarily forgot she was there. He rubbed one foot into the ground, then suddenly looked to her, "Aren't you cold?"

"Freezing. But I'll not go inside until I know what I face." Krysis admitted with a grin, trying not to giggle at the idea that he thought she had a branch tucked someplace uncomfortable. A quick use of her powers of illusion damped down her aura and made her seem at least slightly flawed instead of being a 'perfect' specimen of sidhe. It was a shame it took so long for her to remember to use it that way.
"I'd advise against mentioning dislike for the King while cloaked in shadows or night. Some can hear everything said in such cover, and it might prove to be your undoing." She told him in a companionable way, folding her hands on her knee and leaning back. The lack of a shirt under her jacket would be briefly obvious before she rearranged the cloth to keep herself warm.
She gazed at Ren with interest, her scan pausing briefly at the juncture of his legs to his hips before continuing upwards. "You are so agitated! I just don't understand why. I really didn't mean to startle you. Am I so terrible to behold? There were no mirrors and I have no idea what I look like these days, or what is fashionable."

Her smile was intoxicating. Something about how those luscious lips contrasted to the stark white color of her perfectly aligned teeth attracted Ren. He had always been a sucker for a gorgeous smile. To him it betrayed a person’s true personality. Ren had never been the best observer. He could never tell whether a person was lying or telling the truth half the time, simply because he really didn’t put any effort into it. It was an innate laziness. Usually he just based his perceptions of people off of their smile. Ren was always able to tell the different styles of a smile apart, and now that Krysis had dimmed her Sidhe glow, Ren actually noticed her for her, and not for the Sidhe portion.
Ren hardly heard her warning, though a part of his brain stored it for future reference. Jun had also lectured Ren about his loose mouth. Ren had a habit of saying what he wanted to say, when he wanted to say it. It would be hard to get him to do otherwise, which is why a setting like Alanor was innately dangerous to him. Instead of focusing on her words, the boy was a bit more interested in the flesh that was revealed as she shifted backwards. Almost against his wishes, Ren’s own eyes zeroed in on the Sidhe’s chest. He licked his dry lips as he stared before he suddenly realized what he was doing and jerked his head away. Get a grip on yourself! Ren attempted to take a deep breath, exhaling in time to hear her speak again.
”No. You look fine. You’re just really…really pretty.” Ren felt quite stupid as he spoke, his words quite the opposite of eloquent. In an attempt to save himself, he continued, ”I mean, you’ll fit in well…in the court. Not that it matters. You can dress however you want and stuff…” Ren snapped his mouth shut, afraid of making even a bigger fool of himself.

Krysis tilted her head curiously, smiling at Ren as if he were some new form of Faerie that she had never encountered before. She leaned closer to look him in the eye as she asks, "You dislike being aroused?"
Then she giggled a little and wrapped her illusions more tightly around herself, dimming her beauty further, adding thick nerdy glasses and hiding her curves beneath false layers of clothes. She would stand up then, looking down at her new friend before turning slowly with her arms spread out to either side. "Better? I'd like to at least enlist your aid in getting to the Unseelie Caves. It seems my sense of direction is not as good as it once was and I have gotten slightly lost."
She didn't mention that she could just follow his trail. It had been her experience than men tended to like to provide assistance, and would talk more if preforming a task, no matter how unnecessary.

”Eh?” Ren blinked at her question and his face flushed deeply, ”No, I…I...well, I don’t… No coherent sentence would come to him as he dropped he ripped his gaze from hers and focused on his boot. He kicked at the snow-covered grass and snapped his mouth shut. The next thing he knew, Krysis was gone from his side and standing. Ren glanced up to see that her appearance had changed completely. For a split second he stared at her, then slowly his chest began to move up and down and he lashed a hand out to cover his mouth as he broke out laughing.
Krysis looked absolutely ridiculous with those nerdy glasses and Ren couldn’t help himself. Finally after a few moments he managed to calm himself, and wiped a tear from his eye as he stood. Her little transformation had been enough to officially break the ice. Ren had almost completely forgotten her previous self, and was now content to simply help the lady before him. She was right in her assumption- Ren was a naturally chivalrous man. He would always help an ailing woman, no matter her appearance.
”Sorry for laughing. You just surprised me.” He smiled a wide-toothed smile at her and rubbed his head, ”Come on. I’ll take you there.” It was about time he returned anyways, even though he didn’t fancy the tongue-lashing he would receive from Jun.
END (ooc: closed by me because of age. When Krysis returns we can continue it if she wishes.)
