Mantel Gifts of the Beast A fae’s mantel is the species that he/she is bonded to. Amongst the Seelie Fae this bond manifests in the form of a living beast of that species. This beast is of above average intelligence of his/her kind and is bonded empathetically to the fae. At the Unseelie Court, the fae’s mantel takes the shape of a living tattoo. The Unseelie fae have the ability to physically transform into their bonded.

Elf Struck Curse of the Flesh Physical contact with a sidhe is particularly dangerous for those who are not of sidhe blood. If the mind of the individual participating individual is not protected by the sidhe, they can develop a condition that is known as “Elf Struck”. When Elf Struck, they will, for the rest of their lives, seek contact with sidhe flesh or suffer unbearable mental anguish. The sanest fae have been driven insane by this condition and it is a common affliction amongst the human garlanger line, who the sidhe find most alluring.

Trance Imperfection of Immortality All faerie are immortal (aside from human garlangers), and thus cannot be killed by ordinary means. There are means to kill a fae, but the few ways that are known are not worth mentioning as they do not currently exist in Alanor. However, when a fae is struck with a mortal blow (something that would otherwise kill a human), they enter a deep state of slumber called a “Trance”. Each Trance lasts 2 days or 3 posts, whichever comes last.

Coming Into Power Emergence of Power Some Nimbus are merely sidhe who have not yet discovered their true potential. For these nimbus they may experience what is called a “Coming to Power”. Nimbus can come to power in many different ways, but the most common way is dueling or having physical contact with a sidhe, even the mere presence of a sidhe may bring a nimbus to power (but it is less likely). When a nimbus comes to power, they become a full-blooded sidhe, and any memory of them as less forgotten.
