Rituals
The magick of tradition
The magick of tradition
Below are the rituals of faerie. Any able bodied fae may work the magic here. Once a ritual has been invoked, notify Skylla.
Invoking Mortality
Directions:
1. Draw the blade of each upon his opponent such that blood wells forth.
2. Collect the lifeblood drawn into a chalice and mingle.
3. Slake thirsts upon such a vintage.
4. Let no drop spill.
5. Let neither drink more than the other.
Explanation:
This ritual is only used in preparation for an honorable duel ending in one honorable death. Two may enter the ring but only one may exit alive. The invoking of mortality shreds any immortal protection the fae may have from the hand of death. A mortal blow that would normally heal becomes fatal. Never begin this ritual without finishing both it and the duel. Only by the death of one may the immortality of the other be restored.
Merging of Power
Directions
1. Collect a lock of the other's hair
2. Braid within your own
Explanation
Use this ritual to bind yourself to another and them to you. Your powers become theirs and theirs become yours to command. This lasts for the duration of five posts only. A one-way sharing of power can be forced. The braiding of hair in this ritual can only be performed within the Altar of Fates. The hair, once braided into your own, becomes your own hair and cannot be separated. At the end of the fifth post, the hair will then fall out on its own and cannot be re-attached, thus severing the ties of power.
Note: To have a two-way sharing of power both must braid the other's hair into their own.
Play the Puppeteer
Directions
1. The ritual must be performed during the new moon
2. Slaughter a rooster
3. Shed a bit of your own blood and mingle the two together
4. With the blood, spell the name of the person upon the ground
5. Chant "produisez les fae" three times
Explanation
This ritual can only be performed during an eclipse. The character is only resurrected temporarily and can return to the grave at random, at any time. Only characters who have honorable gravestones in the Graveyard are eligible to be resurrected.
Pomme de Liberte
Directions
1. Place hand on scar of the servant
2. Chant "Les destins, ont coupé notre le lien de Pomme de Sang" three times
Explanation
The master must perform this ritual upon the servant. As soon as the chanting has been completed, the scar fades away and the bonds of Pomme de Sang are released, as well as all benefits both receive from those bonds.
Note: This ritual does not work on permanent Pomme de Sang bonds.
Pomme de Sang
Directions
1. Carve your first initial into the flesh of your potential servant
2. Rub your blood into the wound created
3. Win a duel against desired servant
Explanation
This ritual can be forced and maintained despite servant's dislike. A permanent scar forms on the servant, becoming the symbol of the bond. Though the master can survive the death of the servant, the servant cannot survive the death of the master. If the servant enters willingly into the bond, the duel is not needed. Any damage taken in a duel where both halves of the bond are participating is split evenly between the two.
The servant is unable to allow or cause either physical or mental harm to come to his master. The master is unable to inflict physical harm to the servant. However, the master can wield mental anguish against the servant, even the influences over the mind that both are supposed to be immune to. Both master and servant become immune to certain influences over the mind -- including Laxity, Mangled Hearts, compulsion of Dermal Glow (Master), Asphyxia (Nimbus), Souls, Ponfar (Nimbus), Deception, and Inner Daemons).
Chart of who can use this ritual on who:
Sidhe --> All (except Monarchs, Goblin Blades and other Pomme De Sang Masters)
Nimbus --> Garlanger and Other Nimbus
Garlanger --> None
Note: Only Sidhe can stretch their Pomme de Sang to two servants (of any type).
Pomme de Vol
Directions
1. Retrieve lock of master's hair
2. Intertwine with severed lock of your own
3. Perform Pomme de Sang upon desired servant
4. Burn intertwined locks
5. Win a duel against current master
Explanation
This ritual will effectively transfer the bonding of Pomme de Sang from the current master to you. The original Pomme de Sang scar fades, leaving only the scars of your Pomme de Sang ritual behind. There is no remaining bond between former master and servant. All benefits and disadvantages of Pomme de Sang apply.
Sanctuary
Directions
1. Draw the blood of the creature of your mantel
2. Taste the blood while still warm
3. Splatter the remaining blood upon the land
4. Chant "protégez-moi" three times
Explanation
This ritual can only be performed by a Garlanger faerie. For the duration of one turn it protects the performer of this ritual against all things, even other rituals and Hands of Power, as well as glamour and physical attacks. This faerie is immune to all things, having been granted sanctuary.
Note: The post written to invoke this ritual is not included in the one post duration.
Summon Ghoul
Directions
1. Slaughter one rooster
2. Collect every drop of blood
3. Shed a bit of your own and mingle the two together
4. Splatter mingled blood onto the earth
5. Chant "produisez les morts" three times
6. Feed your ghoul the rooster's corpse once arisen
Explanation
This ritual calls one flesh-eating ghoul from the depths of the earth. Only the performer of this ritual can command this ghoul. Ghouls are very literal and cannot understand abstract commands. For instance, the command stop simply means the cessation of all motion, even in midstep. This ghoul will last three turns/posts for Garlangers, two turns for Nimbus, and one turn for fae of Sidhe blood. Ghouls are really just dead humans that have risen as walking corpses to follow your every command for the duration of its very short existence. This means that they have only the strength of your average human, but a ghoul cares not for itself. The normal stopping points of the pain threshold do not apply for a ghoul. An old woman, under extreme circumstances, can lift a car or truck, thus a ghoul can do so as well. A ghoul can smash through walls and tear off its own limbs with no regard to pain. Thus, anything that would normally cause another to hesitate simply does not work for the ghoul. Even when torn into pieces, those pieces will strive to carry out its last orders until your power can hold them in animation no longer.
Note: The ghoul will seek out flesh and eat it unless attended to. Only when you feed it the flesh can you control it. If you fail to complete the last step, the ghoul will rampage for the number of turns your power keeps it animated.
