FAQs
Q: What exactly are we playing?
A: The race is called faerie, or fae for short. It is a race very similar to elves or vulcans but with more magic and less pointy ears. The faerie are immortal and cannot die. However, if a faerie is struck with a mortal blow they are sent into a trance like state where they sleep until their wounds are healed.
Q: What time era is the game set in?
A: The time era is very ambiguous, as the portal at the Mounds drafts fae from all walks of life to Alanor. The way the fae dress may range from a more modern style to the way of medieval times. However, no modern technology is allowed in Alanor.
Q: Who is native to Alanor?
A: No one is native to Alanor, even the Fate Skylla was once of another world. However, some fae may have been here longer than others while some fae’s lives in Alanor may begin as soon as they are joined.
Q: How do faerie end up in Alanor? Can they go back to where they came from?
A: For some faerie, they are selected by the portal at the Mounds for unknown traits that Alanor itself views as favorable. Other faerie seek out Alanor for personal reasons. With that said, any faerie is free to return to the real world whenever they wish, and vice-versa.
Q: Where do the faerie come from originally?
A: Fae are the magical beings or the descendents of magical beings, from all types of lore. However, due to magic in the human world waning, the creatures these faerie once were have transformed into what they are now. For instance, the former Queen of the Seelie, Katalina used to be the Norse Goddess, Freya. For the most part, what your faerie was before he/she came to Alanor is largely up for interpretation.
Q: Do you allow canons from the Merry Gentry series?
A: Though nothing that has taken place in the Merry Gentry series has taken place here I will allow characters based on characters from the books. Their past and exploits must be entirely independent of the book.
Q: Are there NPCs in Alanor?
A: Yes, NPCs are comprised of mostly nimbus and garlangers, with garlangers working as servants to the sidhe and the rest of the court. However, there are no NPCs that hold rank in the court.
Q: What exactly is Alanor?
A: Alanor is the magical realm of the faerie. Alanor is accessible through the mortal realm, our world.
