Laws of Class
Sidhe are the elite ruling class, they are the monarchs and the reigning champions of the fae. From beauty to magic, sidhe are the most powerful of all creatures in Alanor, and thus, rule over all other’s because of it. Think of the sidhe as a debutante society, where all sidhe mingle and strive to impress one another. It is very rare that a sidhe recognizes a nimbus as equal to them, and many times when such recognition occurs it is because of their sidhe parentage or a demonstration of extreme talent.
Sidhe are very hands-on beings, they lack the personal space constraint that governs most other beings. When in public they often try to impress one another with their beauty or magic. It is not common for Sidhe to touch one another as they speak, without any sexual intent behind it.
Nimbus are often sidhe in waiting, as many nimbus possess the innate magic that allows them to Come into Power. Thus many nimbus are treated very well. Nimbus may hold ranks in court but are often excluded from royal festivities unless they are considered special due to talent or lineage. For the Nimbus that never come into power, they often find themselves a step behind their sidhe counterparts.
Nimbus are essentially Sidhe in the way they interact with the court, but many are more reserved due to the fact they are of a thinner bloodline. High ranking Nimbus are known to act exactly as Sidhe do.
Garlangers are the lowest of the bloodline. Where sidhe and nimbus are nearly equal, garlangers are far separated from their thicker blooded counterparts. Depending on the garlanger, society views each type very differently. Some types are employed by the sidhe and others, be it rare; actually hold rank in the court. However, due to Alanor having no monetary system, the only thing that a sidhe provides a garlanger with in exchange for their services, is protection and livelihood.
Human garlangers are seen as frail, mortal beings and are often disregarded by the sidhe entirely due to their greatest weakness; death. Still amongst the sidhe, human garlangers are considered the most beautiful. At the same time, some sidhe also fear human garlangers due to the rumor that their blood is poisonous to full-blooded faerie and they fear that their water thin blood will muddle and dilute theirs. Depending on the situation, some human garlangers may be employed by sidhe and nimbus for menial tasks.
Lycanthrope garlangers are seen as animals amongst the faerie. They are often hideous creatures that most sidhe would never associate with. Some, more perverse, fae have been known to bed lycanthrope but sleeping with a lycan is akin to bestiality by faerie standards.
Nightflyers are descendants of the Sluagh, a class of faerie that has not long been seen in Alanor, but was of the terrible yet majestic Wild Hunt. Thus, nightflyers are the closest to a human nightmare as a fae can get. Nightflyers are used by the sidhe as assassins, spies, and keepers of the night as they are known for being conniving, stealthy beings.
Pixies are the most favored of all the garlangers. Though they are not considered as beautiful as the human types, some are attractive by sidhe standards. These garlangers hold important jobs in faerie society. They are employed by the nimbus and the sidhe to run shops, clean, and cook for the full-blooded faerie. The most important task the pixies are trusted with is the tending of the royal landscape in both courts. Due to their natural proclivities towards nature, pixies tend to the gardens and maintain the appearance of the terra in each court.
The Goblins are the most segregated type of faerie in society. They all tend to be feisty creatures with a lust for blood and battle. Thus, some goblins have found themselves amongst the ranks of the royal guard and most, if not all, are warriors. Goblins are known for their mastery of blacksmithing, and it is with their methods that the weapons of the Goblin Blades are crafted.
