34 years ago: Ren is present during the attack on the Festival of Imbolc. He escapes primarily unscathed, his newfound companion Namiko with him. However, he is inflicted with a bout of Paranoid Schizophrenia; a disorder he finds himself unable to shake. During the attack he meets Namgil, an Unseelie Sidhe he will come to know quite well.
32 years ago: Head over heels in love with Namiko, Ren finds himself drawn to protecting her at all costs. This causes a rift between him and his brother Jun, who believes Ren has become irrational - too hotheaded to adequately survive in the Unseelie court. Ren's paranoia continues to grow - he is constantly on the lookout for danger that is not there. His paranoia leads to bouts of anger, and eventually morphs into hatred towards everyone but Namiko and his newfound friend Namgil. Ren withdraws from his brother Jun and instead seeks solace under Namgil, who seems far more welcoming than the former.
32 years ago: While his Branwyn brother spends most of his time in the court to address the Slaugh-Unseelie situation, Ren is practically oblivious to all conflict. When the Slaugh Rebellion begins, Jun confronts Ren in an attempt to reel the wild boy in, but Ren objects, stating he has no desire to aid the Unseelie court underneath Cel. Jun attempts to reason with the boy but is interrupted by Namgil, who finally reveals that he is Ren's father and that Jun has been lying to Ren his entire life. Enraged and blinded by the paranoia that continues to eat away at his mind, Ren grabs Namiko and flees back to the mortal realm.
10 years ago: Ren returns to Alanor without Namiko. He is a hollow shell of his former self, consumed by sleepless nights and fits of uncontrollable anger and fear. He knows nothing of the outcome of the war, but instead seeks out his father, only to find that in his absence Namgil has enslaved Jun via the Pomme de Sang ritual. It is at this time that the full story behind Ren's birth is revealed. Reeling from this mental blow, the boy attacks Namgil but is immediately dispatched into Trance. When Ren awakes he finds himself suddenly feeling utterly and completely alone. Now, completely aware that he has been made a fool of all of these years, Ren leaves the Unseelie caverns in an attempt to clear his head. He wanders the Mists for a while, and during this time he discovers the constant fear that once gripped his mind is now gone. With his brothers freedom at stake, Ren begins to vigorously retrain himself for an inevitable confrontation with Namgil.
8 years ago: Ren returns to the Unseelie caverns, his mind and body mentally prepared to take on Namgil. The Sidhe, who views Ren as nothing more than a pest, decides to dispatch the boy via an invocation of immortality. He tricks the boy (who has failed to do his full research on Pomme de Sang bonds) by informing Ren that once he is dead, Jun will be free. Ren accepts the challenge, overly confident in his chances to win. The duel is conducted out of sight of Jun, who only realizes that it is occurring once a wound Namgil incurs also appears across his own chest. Namgil, via his far superior combat skills and hand of power, easily toys with Ren throughout the duration of the fight - severing the younger boys tendons and inflicting a variety of cuts on him with the intent to watch the boy bleed to death. However, within ten minutes of the start of the duel, Namgil collapses into slight paralysis, which is his first clue to the fact that Ren's blades were poisoned and the one cut he allowed ultimately brought him to his knees. Free of Namgil's Hand of Power, Ren crawls to a somewhat safe distance in time to see Jun stagger into the room. He barely has enough time to realize his mistake and beg for forgiveness before his brother passes in his arms - the unfortunate side effect of his own Master's death. With his immortality restored just in time, Ren once again passes into a trance.
5 years ago: Ren awakes from a three year long trance to find the war over, Cel gone, and the bodies of his father and brother long since vanished. Completely numb, the boy begins his long search of Namgil's quarters - left untouched for the most part - only to find the chest of his brother's belongings. Unable to muster the strength to cry, be angry, or do anything for that matter, Ren holes himself up in his old living quarters for quite some time. He spends his time rifling through his brothers things, including Jun's diary. It is within this diary that one name continuously strikes out at him: Alecto. In a sudden fit, Ren seeks out this woman and informs her of his relationship to the now deceased Jun. With no direction or purpose in life defined, Ren offers his devotion to the woman his brother so admired. She, in turn, directs him to Tovah. The boy finds himself attracted to Tovah's hatred of the Sidhe and innate innocence, and thus silently pledges himself to the girl, should she maintain her current views. Through this, the male is finally capable of leaving his chambers, though his nightmares and constant sense of guilt do not yield.
4 years ago: In an effort to ease his ignorance, Ren begins to thoroughly research his birthplace and the court he calls home. Though Ren pledges allegiance to no one but Alecto and her kin, he occupies himself with guarding the Unseelie court, driven by his own internal desire to protect what was once precious to his older brother. He is no longer the boy he once was. Driven by a thirst to improve himself so that he will no longer endanger those he loves through ignorance, the boy now rarely sleeps. His time is spent training, reading, and patrolling the Unseelie caverns. His original hotheadedness has dropped to a simmer, though it still boils underneath the surface of his skin, ready to be unleashed if necessary. However, his pride has been completely broken - there is a rounding of his shoulders and a dullness to his eyes not previously seen.
