Appearance: Although she is not considered amongst the greatest beauties of her kind, Saalyn is still quite fair in her own right. Her eyes are ashen in color, a brilliant silvery gray, while her blonde hair falls over her shoulders in a mane of shimmering gold with streaks of warm chestnut brown. She stands shorter than most Sidhe at a height of 5'7, but despite her smaller stature her body is slim and toned, though not overly muscular or curvaceous. The tattoo of her mantel can generally be seen on the back of her right shoulder reaching up to her neck.

When it comes to her wardrobe, Saalyn prefers to wear business-like attire including blazers, blouses (especially striped ones), skirts, and tall boots.


Personality: Saalyn seems to exude a sense of calm stoicism. She holds the reigns on her emotions in an exceedingly tight grasp, which is perhaps what makes her such a good politician. It is almost eerie, the way she comes off as being unfeeling. Others welcome her reserved nature, seeking her as a source to ease their own anxieties.

Although most politicians are known for being slippery, Saalyn is actually completely forthright with her opinions, when she chooses to share them. That is to say Saalyn is honest when she speaks, but is known to keep things to herself when she senses a need for discretion. Rather than lie to your face, she would instead speak in half-truths, or remain completely silent altogether.

Saalyn is extremely critical of any and everyone, herself included. She does not grant others her respect or trust until they prove that they are deserving of it, and even then it can still be easily lost. Because of this, she often comes off as being arrogant and judgmental, which isn't all that far from the truth, though perhaps not to the extent that some would believe.

Despite her high-and-mighty attitude, Saalyn possesses an odd kind of compassion for her fellow Darklings, a kindness that greatly stems from her nature as a healer. She is often times seen helping the sick and wounded, partially out of sympathy, but mostly out of a sense of obligation—Saalyn feels that she was given her Restorative magic for a reason and should use it properly.

Her Restorative Hand also gives rise to her general passiveness. Saalyn is by no means a fighter, and would much rather resolve confrontations with words than aggression whenever she is able. She holds a strong dislike for death and destruction, unless she feels that someone or something is completely deserving of it.

On account of her past relationship with her parents, Saalyn seems to be on an endless, personal quest to find and prove her own self-worth, a goal that she sometimes unconsciously projects on those around her.


History: Saalyn was an only child, born to parents who fully enjoyed the lavish lifestyles of the upper class Sidhe. They often attended parties and social gatherings, taking advantage of the opportunity to show off their daughter who had been "graced by the Fates with a healing hand." It was clear that they expected a bright future for Saalyn, and were more than ready to take any credit for the great accomplishments she was sure to achieve—riding her coattails to the top of the social ladder since they had never managed to do anything all that impressive themselves.

Of course, at a young age Saalyn was oblivious to it all, but as she grew older she became increasingly aware of her parent's expectations and their ambitions that revolved solely around her success. Needless to say, this knowledge about the truth of her parents and their actions revolted her beyond forgiveness, and not one to be used as a trophy by a pair of socially ambitious Sidhe, Saalyn distanced herself from her guardians, taking refuge in the human realm for an extended, though unknown, length of time.

Upon returning to Alanor, Saalyn's parents were nowhere to be found. She never bothered trying to find out where they had gone or if they were even still alive.

It wasn't long after her return that Saalyn happened to cross paths with King Cel, the current ruler of the Unseelie. Discovering that she possessed an affinity for serving as an advisor, she quickly rose through the ranks of the Darkling Court. Saalyn soon found herself donning the title of Niceven, second only to King Cel, a role she embraced to the fullest until the Unseelie kingdom fell during the Sluagh Rebellion.
