32 years ago: The Sluagh Rebellion begins. Saalyn, the current Niceven of the Darkling Court, outwardly supports her King's decision in regards to Segwyn and the Sluagh though in truth she is unsure that it is the right one. She might not completely trust Segwyn and his people, but Saalyn believed that if they shared a common enemy—the Drow—they might at least be able to work together long enough to eliminate that threat. Instead, the Sluagh and the Unseelie turn their blades toward one another upon Cel's imprisonment of their King, his brother, Segwyn. Saalyn takes this as a sign that her King is allowing his own hatred towards Segwyn influence his ability to rule properly. Despite this unsettling notion, Saalyn remains on the side of her King and her people, choosing to stay and help as many of them as she can now that she knows the fighting will be inevitable.
At the start of the rebellion, Saalyn quickly finds herself working amongst the injured, not unlike when the attack on Imbloc occurred. She organizes several infirmaries to be placed in different areas of the caverns, and makes sure that they are readily manned and supplied. The largest is set within the Darkling Palace and is where Saalyn is generally stationed, acting as the primary healer on account of her Restorative hand.
10 years ago: When the Darkling Palace is overtaken, Saalyn is captured by the Sluagh. Because of her high rank amongst the Darkling Court, her life is spared, but also leads to her torture by her captors who want information on Cel and his whereabouts. Saalyn defiantly maintains her silence, and because of her regenerative capabilities the torture becomes nearly endless. Surprisingly it is Segwyn who puts an end to the abuse, though his so-called "compassion" comes with a price. Saalyn soon finds herself reluctantly healing the Sluagh while wearing chains—her life only spared so that she might spare the lives of her enemy.
5 years ago: The end of the Rebellion also marks Saalyn's release by the Sluagh. Although she is free of her chains, she still feels the ghost of a leash around her neck, knowing that the Sluagh and their King keep a close eye on her for any signs of an uprising. With the Darkling Court in shambles, the title of Niceven rings hollow upon Saalyn's ears. When some of her fellow fae come to her expressing their desire for Saalyn to take over the monarchy, she displays no interest in upholding the position, mostly out of the fear that such actions will start an actual war with the Sluagh that she knows the Unseelie cannot win.
4 years ago: Despite her own disinterest in ruling the Darkling Throng, Saalyn keeps a discreet watch on the situation involving the monarchy, particularly how Segwyn refuses the throne and how the roses seem to be showing a peculiar liking to a mysterious young woman. When she later finds out that the girl is the daughter of Segwyn and Alecto, Saalyn goes to confront the former Denwyr about what appears to be an act of treason against their court.
3 years ago: With the Sluagh gone and the unnerving prospect of having their halfling King ruling over the Darkling Court vanquished, Saalyn knows that for any true rebuilding process to begin for the Unseelie they will need a leader. With Cel still missing, and only rumors of his continuity amongst the living being exactly that, the former Niceven is faced with a dilemma: try to find her King so that he may take his rightful place on the throne or try to find a suitable replacement.
In the meantime, Saalyn sets herself up as an interim leader—reclaiming her title as Niceven—and assures her fellow fae that it is her duty, and her only intention, to keep the peace until she can find them a true ruler before their court falls into chaos.
2 years ago: True to her word, Saalyn collects a committee of her Unseelie peers—mostly Sidhe, though there are a few high-ranking Nimbus amongst the group—to begin the process of finding their next King or Queen. While the Darkling Court remains leaderless all political situations are handled by this group, although Saalyn herself is the one to give the final word on any and all decisions.
Present: Two years have passed since the initial assembly of the committee and yet the Unseelie throne is still empty. With all attempts at finding a suitable replacement for Cel having failed, Saalyn begins to wonder if Alecto's daughter, Tovah, has already been chosen, remembering how the roses reacted to her presence and that through her parentage she is technically related to the former monarch. Despite this knowledge, Saalyn still feels uneasy about placing the spawn of Segwyn in charge of the Darkling Throng due to her young age and inexperience, but mostly fearing that it could potentially give the Sluagh a reason to return to the caverns.

I thought the Sluagh completely left, but I could be wrong. In which case I also need some clarification haha.
UM I want to play the thread where Saalyn and Alecto have their...reunion. Even if we play it as a historical thread. Because it will be delicious.
Man I wish I had something to add. Maybe I'll think of something with Tovah?

Hi Jaded,
I apologize for the confusion. The Sluagh remain amongst the Unseelie just long enough to determine that their monarch, Segwyn, is not going to take the throne. That is the last straw for them, and at that point they leave the Unseelie caverns to roam the wilds of Alanor, as they did long ago.
I updated the "Changing World" timeline to help clarify.
Please let me know if you have any other questions!

Awesome! Thanks for the clarification.
My only other question regarding the state of the Court is whether or not the Sluagh are still keeping a close eye on the Unseelie. The Darklings would obviously want to start rebuilding their court, but would the Sluagh want to have any control over that process? Or do they not care about the Unseelie anymore now that they've won their freedom?
On an unrelated note, I was also curious about the "aging" of the fae. They're obviously immortal, but, for example, Dema's character Tovah was a baby when the war began. Now that thirty some-odd years have passed, is she an adult now? Does she appear to be an adult?

The Sluagh rebellion, while instigated by Cel, was ultimately a battle for the freedom of their "court." Now that they are free to roam as they once did long ago, they keep no closer eye on the Unseelie than the Seelie, and are not particularly interested in court politics. They are also fragmented since forsaking their leader.
Faerie children on earth are born and age like humans (while some rapid or slow aging is also possible in Alanor) until they are in their prime, whenever that may be, whereupon aging basically stops. I believe Dema is describing Tovah as a teenager, which is fine since she is still very young by Faerie standards. Honestly we are leaving that mostly up to the discretion of the player.
