[/color]Thirty years have passed.
Alanor is changing.
The landscape changes. The courts change. The faerie change.
Alliances have blossomed and withered. A Golden Age of peace has met a sudden end, and a thousand questions remain unanswered.
Where were you?THE COUNTDOWN
34 years ago: Saalyn and Alecto travel to the Seelie court to warn Annette about the threat of the Drow/Sluagh. She decrees that if the Sluagh rebel against the Unseelie, she will not offer any assistant; the Darklings must instigate the war in order to show they have backbone. She scoffs at the mention of the Drow, not believing it is possible that they still exist in Alanor.
34 years ago: The Drow send an inferior race, the Shades, to attack the Faerie at Imbolc. Many Shades are killed, many Faerie are injured, and a handful have lasting psychological side effects.
32 years ago: Haley discovered the Isle of the Eloquent, which has reappeared after dwelling in obscurity for hundreds of years.
32 years ago: Segwyn offers Sluagh assistance in the fight against the Drow, on the condition that the Sluagh are granted autonomy, and the right to live outside the Underdark. King Cel is irate at the suggestion. He declares Segwyn a traitor, locks him in the hall of Mortality and accuses the Sluagh of rebelling. The Sluagh “Rebellion” begins.
32 years ago: Annette keeps her promise, and will not send her own warriors to support the Unseelie in their war with the Sluagh. Her court is divided over the decision, but she maintains her authority without great difficulty.
31 years ago: Haley rises to the rank of Archon over the Isle of the Eloquent. Lacking a Magister, she becomes the acting leader and guardian of the Island.
30 years ago: The Sluagh Rebellion lasts twenty years, taking place mostly in the Underdark.
10 years ago: The Darkling Palace is captured and Segwyn is released.
5 years ago: Segwyn confronts Cel in battle and mortally wounds his brother. When Cel awakes from Trance he finds that the rebellion is at a standstill. Segwyn tells Cel to end the fighting once and for all, but the King refuses. Segwyn casts his brother into the bottomless pit in the Hall of Mortality.
5 years ago: The “Rebellion” ends and the Sluagh remain amongst the Darkling Court. The relations between the Unseelie fae and the Sluagh are strained. There are many, both among the Faerie and the Sluagh, who expect Segwyn to take the throne and urge him to assume his birthright. Others of the Unseelie seek the Monarchy for themselves.
4 years ago: For some time, there is squabbling over who is the rightful Unseelie monarch. Those who claim the throne cannott control the roses, leading some still believe Cel remains the rightful king because he was never killed. Those who support Segwyn are disappointed as he refuses the crown. The roses, meanwhile, have a particular liking for Tovah; they protect her, often coming to life when she is near, keeping a distance but snaking alongside her like pets ready to be fed.
3 years ago: The Sluagh denounce Segwyn as their king and leave the Unseelie caverns to resume their Wild Hunt, leaderless. His love for his nimbus daughter and admiration for her sidhe mother sicken some of the Sluagh; they believe he cares for the fae more than his own people. Others who have viewed him as an outsider all along say he is weak because he will not take the faerie throne.
2 years ago: Annette decrees that the Sluagh are her mortal enemies now that they have left the Unseelie, and vows to exterminate them just as she did the Goblins.
1 year ago: Rumors of the Drow presence in Alanor resurface.
